BLAKELY — Wyatt Hutchins Alexander III, 95, of 24 Lakewood Circle, Blakely, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday graveside in Blakely Cemetery. Dr. Charles DeVane will officiate.
Born February 12, 1909, in Blakely, to Fannie Alice Jones Alexander and Wyatt Hutchins Alexander II, Mr. Alexander had lived most of his life in Coral Gables, Fla., and Blakely, Ga. He was a retired pilot with Eastern Airlines and was a U.S. Air Corp Colonel having served in WW II. He was a member of Blakely First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Judy and Bob Benton of South Glastonbury, Conn.; one son, Wyatt Hutchins Alexander IV of Atlanta; six grandchildren and spouses, Kathleen and Fred Donodeo of Arlington, Va., David and Justyna Benton of Providence, R.I., Jessica and Brian McCurdy of Norfolk, Conn., Frances and Marco Fitzpatrick of Athens, Caroline Sankey of Athens and Ida Sankey of St. Louis, Mo.; five great-grandchildren and parents, Wyatt, Elijah and Forrest McCurdy, children of Jessica and Brain McCurdy, Michal Donodeo, child of Kathleen and Fred Donodeo, Kate Fitzpatrick, child of Frances and Marco Fitzpatrick.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Sanders Alexander; daughter, Annette Sankey and three sisters, Annette Alexander, Vivian Davidson and Dorothy Norton.
The family will receive friends at the residence (24 Lakewood Circle) today from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
