Born January 11, 1933, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Margaret O. (Morrisey) Bittell.

Mr. Bittell was a graduate of West Orange High School, NJ.

He enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War Veteran, serving aboard both the U.S.S. Forest Royal and U.S.S. Fiske.
