Evelyn Shepperson Bailey, 82, a guest of Nottingham Village, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Nottingham.
She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Danville, a daughter of the late Ralph and Esther (Van Art) Shepperson.
Ms. Bailey was a member of the Danville High School Class of 1948 and was class secretary. Before moving back home to Danville, she worked for the University of Maryland in the 4-H extension service, for more than 15 years. She retired from Geisinger after many years of service, working as an executive secretary. Evelyn was an avid reader. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the country. Her true love was simply spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Shepperson; as well as two sisters, Esther Mae Andrews and Carol Shepperson.
Evelyn is survived by a son, Thomas W. Bailey Jr., of Virginia; two daughters: Susan Bailey of New Jersey; and Beth Anne and her husband, John Frissell, of Maryland; three grandchildren: Kristyn, Bryan and Trevor; a brother, Thomas, and his wife, Gerry Shepperson, of Hazleton; a sister, Clara, and her husband, Robert Gustin, of Mechanicsburg; as well as a grand-dog, Plena.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, with Sr. Veronica Kovach, R.S.M. presiding over funeral services. The burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service.
