Maiden name comes from marriage certificate obtained from Franklin County, Georgia, courthouse. She married Clark Terrell Addison on 8 Dec 1850 (published book shows 1851, but it was transcribed incorrectly.)
There are claims that her maiden name was Ayers and that her parents were Larkin C. Ayers and Elizabeth. The 1850 census for District 32, Franklin County, Georgia, provides the following information:
1. Page 256, taken 13 Sep 1850, Clark Terrell Addison was in the household of his father, Christopher Addison.
2. Page 268, taken 23 Sep 1850, Harriet Sartain, age 18, was in the household of Henry T. Brown and Frances Brown (assumed wife). Henry Brown and Frances Means were married in 1846 in Elbert County, Georgia.
3. Page 272, taken 25 Sep 1850, Martha Ayers, age 17, was in the household of L.C. Ayers and Elizabeth.
Conclusion: Parents of Martha Harriet Sartain are unknown.
(special thanks to LGStanley for the following info [no documentation furnished]). Martha Addison's full name was: Martha Harriett "Mary" Ayers Sartain Addison.
