Wyatt Lee Adams, rural resident of Owasso, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 61 years.

He was born August 29, 1946, in Tulsa, to Leo Redford and Edna Mae (Mott) Adams. His father served as a minister, and at an early age Wyatt accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He completed much of his secondary education attending school in Oklahoma City area before moving to Bristow, and graduating with the Bristow High School class of 1964. While in high school, Wyatt was an accomplished vocalist and was active in men's choir. He won a superior rating while competing in state solo competition. He continued his education as a vocal music major attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, and later St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minn.

His education was interrupted with military duty to serve his country. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country honorably as a First Lieutenant during Vietnam. Wyatt continued his education attending the University of Tulsa earning a Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1976. He was married July 10, 1982, in Topeka, Kan., to the former Neva M. Hale. They had made their home in the Owasso area since 1988. He spent much of his working life as an accountant with his own firm, Adam's Accounting.

He also gave much back to the community serving in many capacities. He was a member of the Owasso Chamber of Commerce and served as an Ambassador. He was also a member of the Owasso Rotary Club and the Owasso Round-up Club. Wyatt was a big fan of the Owasso Rams, as well as a constant supporter for the Owasso Band, never missing an opportunity to watch them or his daughter perform. He was often referred to by the students as "Mr. Whitney". He was a true servant always willing to work the concession stand, moving and setting up instruments, or just driving to events and activities. He will always be remembered as a kind and good person.

Loving family members include: his wife; Neva, of the home; daughter Whitney Leigh Adams and her fiancÚ, Aquiles Figueroa; brother and sister-in-law; Glenn and Cathy Adams, of Norman; niece and nephew; Sarah Adams and Billy Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ryan Scott Adams, and sister-in-law, Allene Adams.

Visitation will be held from 9 am to 8 pm Friday, July 18, 2008, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Bill Hale officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be James Perlingiere, JD McCaw, Mike Maxwell, Charles Edwards, Glen Miller, Terry Wessel, and Herman Rodriguez. Serving as Honorary casket bearer will be Tom Schick. Committal services and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. Military Honors provided by the VFW 5th District Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Owasso Round-up Club in memory of Wyatt Adams, PO Box 865, Owasso, OK 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
