Eva June (French) Knight Ware left us gracefully on Monday afternoon, December 31, 2007 in Oklahoma City, with her loving and devoted family by her side. Eva June was born in Clearview, OK. on June 6, 1945, the 9th child born to Lawrence and Marguerite French. She received the majority of her formal education in the Clearview school system, but graduated from Douglas High School with the proud class of 1963. At a very early age, she was baptized by Dr. R.C. Wells in the Church of Christ in Clearview and remained a faithful church member throughout her life. She placed her membership at the Northeast Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, upon her return in 2005.

After graduating from high school, Eva met and married James H. Knight. This union produced two children; Mark Todd and James Lawrence Knight. Mr. Knight preceded her in death. Eva worked at various jobs while attending college at Central State in Edmond. While attending college, she met Ms. Clara Luper and was asked to compete in the Miss Bronze competition in 1969, which she won. The contest was the predecessor to the Miss Black Oklahoma pageant. Eva worked with Ms. Luper and Miss Black Oklahoma pageant for many years.

She then became interested in the Arts and joined Black Inc. which led to her involvement in the theater, acting in off Broadway plays. She later would host a second television show "Candid Campus," on location in Stillwater.

Eva's next role was being a wonderful step-mother to Quinn, Cheryl, Renee and Rosalyn Scales when she married Jimmy Scales. This marriage was later dissolved. Shortly after, Mrs. Ware relocated to New York City in 1980 where she met and married Byron Ware and continued her work in the arts and with AT&T. Mr. Ware preceded her in death as well.

While still employed with AT&T when transferred to New Jersey in 1989 and remained there until her retirement in 1991, due to failing health. She moved to Virginia after retirement and remained there until 2005 when she returned home to be near family and friends. She traveled to a number of countries and was always on the go. Clearview, Oklahoma, however held her heart. She loved big and tried to help everyone she met. She joined the Hospice Volunteer Program after coming home and remained very active with the program until her health began to fail. She was an extraordinarily active person throughout her life and very involved in the lives of her family and friends.

Her father, two brothers, Tommy Ray, and Lawrence, JR., and a sister Dorothy Mae preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish Eva's precious memories: her two sons, Mark Todd, and James L. Knight, both of Oklahoma City, her loving mother, Marguerite French, Clearview, OK., her greatest joys, two grand-children, Gabriella, and Alexander, her father-in-law Jimmie Knight, Oklahoma City, eight sisters, Vivian Anderson, Marian Ware, Mechelle (Felix) Linden, and Sherri French, all of Oklahoma City, Jean (Frank) Simmons, Hurst, TX., Rubye Ann (Lloyd) Samilton, Mission, TX., Veola (Johnny) West, Owasso, OK., and Margaret (Joel) Myers, Tulsa, OK., six brothers, Earl French, Oklahoma City, Dyrl, Steve, Joel (Patsy), and Michael French of Clearview, OK., a special nephew, Terry French, Oklahoma City, and her best friend, Patricia Anderson of New York and her God son, C.J.
