Matthew Acker Sr., departed this life on November 30, 2013. He was born on September 27, 1918 to the late Lolo and Leola Jordan Acker of Catahoula, Ms. He was preceded in death by his two wives the late Cecil Bennett and Henretta Abraham. Matthew was a member of Branch Bell Baptist Church in New Orleans, La where he loved God and singing. Matthew recieved his education in Mississippi, he was a member of the Mount Olive lodge No. 21 in New Orleans, La and worked for Holsom Bakery until he retired.

Matthew is survived by his three children Gwendolyn (Paul) Robinson, Matthew (Linda) Acker Jr., and Curtis (Siena Acker. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, officers, and members of Branch Bell B. C and Mount Olive Lodge No.21 are all invited to attend a Celebration of his life on Friday, December 6, 2013 11:00 am at Branch Bell Baptist Church 1231 St. Maurice Avenue, New Orleans, La. Rev.
