Terry was the son of Calvin and Marge Anderson. Terry and his family moved to Louisburg Kansas while he was in elementary school.

He grew up helping his father train bird dogs at the kennel they owned, located northeast of Louisburg. He also worked at Dibben Oil Company while he was in high school. Terry loved dogs and was an accomplished upland game hunter. He was exceptionally talented when it came to shooting a shotgun.

Terry enlisted in the US Navy shortly after graduating from Louisburg High School in 1970. After discharge from the Navy, he became a heavy equipment salesman for a company in Houston Texas. Terry took early retirement and returned to Louisburg in 1997.

Note: Terry's parents divorced. I think, but have not confirmed, that his father is Calvin Turner Anderson, #8168565.
