He united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist church in early manhood and was an active member as long as the church held services, being deacon a number of years. He was loved and esteemed by all who knew him, and an honorary member in the carpenter's union number 110 of St. Joseph.
He departed this life at 1 o'clock, Tuesday morning, June 23rd at the age of 72years, 7 months, 23 days. He leaves to mourn his death, a son, Otto Babcock of St. Joseph, with whom he made his home, and three daughter, Mrs. Nina Adkins and Mrs. Dixie Adkins of Dearborn, and Mrs. Exon Hammond of Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and two brothers, Oscar Babcock of Agency, Mo., and Dot Babcock of St. Joseph; one sister, Mrs. M. L. Ault of St. Joseph; eight nieces and seven nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist church by Rev. Williamson, Wednesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock. He was laid to rest in the cemetery by the side of his companion.

Alone, He trod the weary mile
Whose feet now tread the other
shore;
Together here a little while,
Together there forevermore.
We know beyond the bounds of earth
and time,
They wait for us and that at length
we'll climb
The trail that winds about the valley
land
And feel again the clasping of a hand.
