PAMPA - Lloyd Rankin Harvey, 92, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Miami with the Rev. Mindy McLanahan, pastor, and John Curry officiating. Local arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Nelson Family Cemetery in St. Joseph, Mo. Arrangements are by Meierhoffer Funeral Home of St. Joseph.

Mr. Harvey was born July 30, 1913, in Saint Jo, Montague County. After moving to New Hope in 1920, he attended elementary school and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1930. He married Catherine Virginia Nelson of Pampa in 1930, and they began a life of farming in Farwell. In 1944 they moved to Gray County to farm the Harry Nelson land east of Pampa. As Farm Bureau "Farmer of the Year" in 1970, he was involved in raising crops of wheat and milo.

He was a member and trustee of First United Methodist Church of Miami. He enjoyed his family, music, traveling, photography, designing metal sculpture, woodworking, fishing and growing tomatoes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 2004; his parents, Annie and Drury Harvey of Clovis, N.M.; and a brother, Ernest Harvey of Clovis.

Survivors include four children, Jeannine Johnson and husband Bobby of Houston, Mary Ann McIlvain and husband E.J. of Victoria, Lloyd Harvey and wife Kay of Pampa, and Drew Harvey and wife Paula of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, E.D. Harvey of Clovis; seven grandchildren, Whitney Young of Houston, Vonda Hellner and husband Todd of League City, Meredith Phillips and husband Brent of Waco, Rankin Harvey and wife Jennifer of Ruidoso, N.M., Angela Overman and husband Clark of Dallas, Tyson Harvey of Burlington, Vt., and Allyson Harvey of Pittsburgh; and five great-grandchildren, Anderson Phillips and Keyson Phillips, both of Waco, and Victoria Hellner, Ava Hellner and Andrew Hellner, all of League City.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Main, Miami, TX 79059.
