Beatrice Mae Parkest Adams, 92, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 3:59 a.m., Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Brighton Cornerstone Health Care in Madisonville. She was born February 12, 1917 at Morganfield-Cox Road, Manitou to the late Albert Loily & Effie Lee Yarbrough Parkest of Happy Lane, Manitou. She wed Rev. R.V. Adams of Nebo on May 30th, 1942, who preceded her in death.

A graduate of the Nebo High School, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was converted in a cow stall July 25th, 1937, on her parents' Happy Lane farm "entering to seek, departing to serve." Within a year she converted her father and two brothers, the late Rev. Marlin Parkest and Vance Parkest. She and her husband ministered in the Methodist Church Louisville conference. A dedicated homemaker, she became a minister's wife in Grays, Ky. while her husband attended seminary school at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tn. They subsequently served at Centertown; Trenton; Lewisburg; Louisville (Parkway and Audubon Park); Bullet County (Mt Washington and Bethel); Hartford; Providence; and Pembroke. She was a member of the Methodist Missionary Society, served numerous Christian charities, and faithfully uplifted and ministered to all those around her. She was the oldest member of the Poplar Bluff, Mo. Red Hat Classy Ladies Society.

She is survived by her beloved son, Loily Peyton Adams and his wife Diana Kay Maxwell Adams of Madisonville; nephew Obie Walker Hunt, his wife Velma Hunt, and grand nephew Scott Larkin Hunt of Carrolton, Ky; sister-in-law, Alma Adams of Duncan, OK; niece June Hunt Prow, her husband Paul Prow, grand nephews Jeffery Prow and Donald Ray Prow, and great grand nieces Lindsey, Hannah, and Kaleigh Prow of Evansville, Indiana; niece Pat Parkest Ancell, grand nieces Kenya Smith and Karla Jo Ward Ancell, and great grand niece Kerri Marie Smith of Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday October 7, 2009, at Barnett Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Cheever officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and after 12:00 Noon until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Paul Allen Summers, Kyle Summers, Corey Summers, Gregory Lane Wilson, Donald H. Hayes, and Edward Carroll. Honorary Pallbearers are John Henry Porter of Nebo, Ky., Allan Kidd of Livermore, Ky., and Larry Neisz of Madisonville.
