George Roscoe Abbott, 62, died at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Monday, August 14, and services were held at the Church of the Nazarene here on Wednesday morning with the Rev. Coy Presson and Rev. James L. Ahlemann officiating. Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery with H.S. Smith service.
He was born July 11, 1905, at Monmouth, Ill., the son of George and Esther Abbott and was reared in that state. He moved to Pemiscot County in 1958 and on February 22, 1958, in Caruthersville, was married to Mrs Ruby Anglea.
At the time of his death he was employed by the West Memphis Housing Authority and was a member of the West Memphis Church of the Nazarene.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ruby Abbott of West Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Garacke of Topeka, Kans.; two step-sons, Billy Anglea of West Memphis and Gerald Anglea of Carpenterville, Ill.; two brothers, Lyle Abbott of Kansas and Donald Abbott of Washington and seven grandchildren.
