C.C. Adams, 80, well-known Caruthersville business man, died suddenly Thursday evening, March 19, of a heart attack while in the T.R. Nelson Grocery store on Adams avenue. Mr. Adams, who has suffered from a heart ailment for several years had gone to the store after supper to make a small purchase and died while resting before starting back to his nearby home.
Christopher Columbus Adams was born in Belan, Miss., November 8, 1879. He had lived in Caruthersville for about forty years and engaged in various forms of merchandising, being active in business until his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
On December 25, 1929, in this city, he was married to the former Miss Myrtle Emory, who survives. He also leaves two daughters and two sons by a former marriage; Mrs. Robert McLain of Chicago, Mrs Emmett Kelley of Cape Girardeau, C.C. Adams Jr. of Columbia, Mo. and Floyd Ballard Adams of Little Rock, Ark. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. D.K. Foster in the LaForge Undertaking Company chapel Saturday afternoon and burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
