Death of a Medical Student
Mr. S.A. Bailey, of Missouri, a student in the Louisville Medical College, died of pneumonia in this city yesterday. His brother having been telegraphed for, was with him at the time of his death, and left for Missouri with the remains last evening. The procession following the remains to the depot was composed of the students of the three medical colleges in the city, and was a very large one, the column extending along Jefferson street in double ranks from Third to Fifth street. The fellow- students of the deceased met last evening and adopted the following;
Resolutions;
By a dispensation of Providence we have sustained a loss which we deeply deplore of a beloved classmate in the untimely death of S.A. Bailey and,
Whereas, Mr. Bailey was an earnest and successful student and an accomplished gentleman-
Resolved that we, the students of the Louisville Medical college, bow in humble submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well, and express our heartfelt sorrow for the premature death of our late associate.
That we tender the bereaved family our sincere sympathy and condolence in this, the hour of desolation; and be it further
Resolved, that the students of the Louisville University and the Hospital School of Medicine be invited to join with us in funeral procession to convey the remains to the depot.
That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the family and local paper, and that they be published in the Courier-Journal and the Richmond and Louisville Medical Journal.
