ADAMS, MARY ANGELINE — Mary Angeline Adams was born January 22, 1905, in Auburn, to Clement L. Meyers and Myrtle A. Learned Meyers.
She died on June 29, 1988, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha at the age of 83 years.
Because her father was a Methodist minister, she lived as a child in the communities of Wayne, Lincoln, Friend, Auburn, Geneva and Oakdale.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln.
While attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, she met and married John Quincy Adams of Sidney, in 1924. They were married 59 years before his death on February 21, 1983.
Four children were born to them: John Quincy Adams Jr., Mary Eileen Adams, Suzanne Louise Adams, and Anne Louise Adams.
Mary and her husband lived from 1925 to 1930 in Shickley, where Dr. Adams practiced dentistry. They then moved to Geneva and remained there as part of the community until 1986.
At that time Mary moved to the Elkhorn Manor in Elkhorn, because of failing health.
She was a loving wife and mother, a dedicated homemaker, and was most active in her church and community.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, George Russel, and Herbert Clement; her husband, John Quincy; and her daughter Suzanne Louise.
She is survived by her son, John and wife Patty of Omaha; her daughters, Mary Nun, of Columbus, Ohio, and Anne Peterson and husband Curtis of Genoa; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church on Saturday, July 2, with the Rev. Cal Leeds officiating.
Mrs. Norval Loma provided organ music before and after with a special tape recording of “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” played during the service.
Grandchildren serving as pallbearers were John A., James, Laura, and Betty Adams, Jayne Callender, Lynn Haske, David and Kathleen Peterson.
Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery.
