ADAMS, FRANK FLANDERS ó Frank Flanders Adams, 71, a retired vice president of the former Milwaukee State Teachers college, died Wednesday, November 4, 1959, at the veteransí hospital at Milwaukee, Wis., after a long illness.
Mr. Adams, a native of Ellsworth, Kas., joined the college as a teacher in 1922, and became vice president in 1924. He served in that position until he retired in 1947. In 1955 the college became the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He also served as principal of the collegeís elementary school.
Mr. Adams, who traced his ancestry to John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States, received his bachelorís degree from the Nebraska State Teachers college at Peru in 1912. In 1917 he received a masterís degree from the University of Nebraska.
He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Kenwood Masonic lodge, Plymouth Congregational church and the Wisconsin Retired Teachers association.
Surviving are his wife, Lydia A.í a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Blackburn of Mount Carroll, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Hope Pinkerton of Seattle, Wash., and a brother, Lawrence of Yakima, Wash.
Mr. Adams was born in Kansas. In his youth the family moved to Fillmore county, where his father was a pioneer teacher, later serving as county superintendent. He died while serving in that office.
Mr. Adams attended Geneva high school, and later a state teachersí college. He was married to Miss Lydia Linnert of Geneva June 6, 1910. They had resided at Milwaukee many years.
Funeral services were held at Milwaukee Saturday and the body was brought to Geneva for interment. Graveside services were conducted at the Geneva cemetery at 2 p. m. Monday, November 9. Rev. Robert Kasper officiated.
