CLAUDE - Virginia Ann "Ginger" Alward, 62, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in Groom.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in United Methodist Church with the Rev. Byron Williamson of First Baptist Church in Groom officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, Armstrong Chapel.
Mrs. Alward was born in Amarillo. She lived in Claude 30 years before moving to Groom two years ago.
She was a master seamstress and quilter and had been commissioned to design and make quilts for celebrities.
She was active in Boy Scouts of America and the PTA.
She married Alvin L. Alward in 1954 at Tucumcari, N.M. She was preceded in death by three sons, Jerry Dean, Stephen Ray and David Ray, in 1969.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Donna Burton of Groom; a son, Terry Alward of Dumas; her parents, Ed and Dorothy Kennedy of Blum; a sister, Jane Brown of Blum; two brothers, John Kennedy of Blum and Paul Kennedy of Houston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Boy Scouts of America, 4001 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124; or Groom Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 111, Groom, TX 79039.
