The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, April 22, 1937
Lillian Jeanette Adamson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Adamson, was born on the farm south east of Nelson, and passed away at the home of her parents in Nelson on April 22nd, 1937, at the age of 15 years and 22 days.
She graduated from the Brown school east of Nelson, and was a Freshman in the Nelson High School at the time of her death.
Jeanette was a regular member of the Sunday School; she was active both in the choir and the Young People's society of the church. It was on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1937, that she united with the Presbyterian Church; she was especially interested in all the activities of the young people.
She leaves to mourn her passing her father and mother, four brothers, Clifford, LaVerne, Junior and Dwight, Bobby having preceded her in death June 24, 1935; four sisters, Marvel, Leone, Faye and Ellen May; three sisters-in-law, Mildred, Ruth, and Esther; two grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Adamson of Nelson; two nephews, Jimmie and Gordon, one niece Janet Lee; uncles, aunts, and cousins, and many friends to whom she endeared herself in her short sojourn here.
Peaceful be thy silent slumber
Peaceful in thy grave so low,
Tho' no more will join our number,
Tho' no more our sorrows know,
Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the day of life is fled,
And in Heaven with joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tears are shed.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Caldwell in the Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The choir of which she was a member, sang two selections and Mrs. Ross Clem sang a solo. We do not recall a large attendance at a funeral in Nelson. The church was filled to overflowing, and standing room was crowded. The High School adjourned to attend in a body. The interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
