A Nelson man, Hugh "Mac" Adamson, 88, died Tuesday at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital. He was a long-time former deputy sheriff of Nuckolls County.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m., at the Christian Church, Nelson, with the Rev. Richard Markland officiating. Burial will be, in the Nelson Cemetery.
Adamson as born Feb. 23, 1897; on a farm near Nelson.
Survivors are three sons, Dale and Earl of Nelson and
Joseph of Lincoln; two daughters, Mrs. Newell Wilhelms (Helen) of Joes, Colo., and Mrs. Vernon Grummert (Holle), Denver; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The Klawitter-Price Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hugh McKinley (Mac) Adamson, son of Mose (sic) A. Adamson and Emma (Roberts) Adamson, and one of eight children, was born on a farm near Nelson, Nebraska, February 23, 1897. He passed away at the Broadstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, on August 6, 1985, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Mac attended Nelson Public Schools and graduated from Nelson High School in 1914. He taught school in Nuckolls County rural schools, in Cadams and Nelson schools.
He was united in marriage to Annie E. Wright on May 9, 1918, at Nelson, Nebraska. Five children were born to this union. They lived on a farm near Nelson until 1945 when they bought a home in Nelson where they spent the rest of their lives. Annie passed away in 1975. Mac has lived his entire life in the Nelson area. He has been a long time member of the First Christian Church. He also served on the Nebraska Peace Officers Association, the Nuckolls County Fair Board. Mac was Nuckolls County Deputy Sheriff from 1945 until 1966 when he retired. He had a great love for farming and for horses. One achievement he was proud of was that he earned his pilots license at the age of 60 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Annie; four brothers, Glen, Earl, Whitfield and an infant brother; three sisters, Helen Adamson, Libby Morrow and Hazel Statz.
Survivors include all five children, Dale E. Adamson of Nelson, Nebraska, Earl Adamson of Nelson, Mrs. Newell (Helen) Wilhelms, Joes, Colorado, Mrs. Vernon (Halle) Grummert, Denver, Colorado, and Joseph D. Adamson of Lincoln, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 9, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. from the First Christian Church in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Richard Markland officiating. Dennis VanNyhuis, soloist, sang "The Last Mile Of The Way" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" with Myrtle Worley as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Dale Blankenship, Alvin Pesek, Wayne Garrison, Ellis Garrison, Howard Good, Clem Reeve, Pete Nielsen and Bill Morehead. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
