Alta Ethel Adamson, daughter of William and Mary Jane Doane, was born December 3, 1890, on a farm near Dochester (sic), Nebraska, and passed away March 23, 1973, at the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson, Nebraska, after a lingering illness at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 20 days.
On December 23, 1908, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Glen (sic) Adamson. To this union ten children were born, five sons and five daughters: Clifford, LaVerne, Glen Jr., Marvel, Leone, Bobby, Jeannette, Faye, Dwight, and Ellen Mae.
Her childhood and school days were spent at Dorchester where she was also married. After her marriage she lived on a farm and in Nelson except for six years in Colorado.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and active in their Circles until they moved to Colorado in 1950. She was a Past Noble Grand and District Deputy President of the Rebekah Lodge and a Past County President of the Federation of Women's Clubs.
Upon her return to Nelson in the late fifties, she was baptized and became a member of the Nelson Christian Church. She sang in the choir and was Sunday School pianist for many years. She was always interested in promoting community affairs.
Her love of music and helping others occupied her time in her later years. As a Gray Lady, she spent many hours at the Good Samaritan Home. Until prevented by ill health the Sunday evening song fest at the Home was a great pleasure to her.
Alta was preceded in death by her husband, Glen (sic); one son, Bobby two daughters, Jeanette and Mrs. Faye Hudgins Hollearinl three grandchildren; one great grandchild; her parents; four sisters and one brother.
She leaves to mourn her death four sons and three daughters. They are Clifford of Nelson, LaVerne of Broomfield, Colorado, Glen Jr. of Salem, Oregon, Mrs. Floyd (Marvel) McMullen of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Leslie (Leone) Troudt of Hastings, Nebraska, Dwight of Exeter and Mrs. Herb (Peggy) Van Buren of Phoenix, Arizona. There are also four daughters-in-law, four sons-in-law, 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 26, 1973 at 2 p.m. from the First Christian Church in Nelson, Nebraska. The Reverend Victor Schwarz officiated. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
Casket bearers were John Troudt, Robert Troudt, Carroll Troudt, John Mark Adamson, Floyd McMullen and John McMullen.
Arrangements were by the Klawitter Funeral Home, Nelson.
