BLOOMINGTON — Irene C. Appleblood, 106, Bloomington, and formerly of Chicago, passed away at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2010) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Bloomington.
Her funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday at Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish, 5744 W. Diversey Ave., Chicago, IL 60639. The Very Rev. Joseph Kobylarz will officiate. Burial will be in All Saints Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Chicago. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish, Chicago.
She was born June 6, 1904, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Constance Kordecki. She married Charles Appleblood on Nov. 28, 1933, in Kenosha, Wis. He passed away Dec. 15, 1971.
She leaves a niece, Dorothy (the late Robert J.) Ford, Bloomington; great-nephews, Gary J. (Patty) Ford, Hudson, and the late Michael R. Ford; two great-great-nieces, Megan S. (Dan) Rayhill, Shorewood, and Heather N. (Kale) Farney, Marquette Heights; nephew, Larry Appleblood and his family; and two nieces, Tina Brasch, Chicago, and Terry Reid, El Cajon, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Irene will be missed by the Ford family. She was like a second mother to her niece and like a grandmother to her nephew and great-great-nieces. Irene liked to read and go out to dinner. She enjoyed her family and friends. She had a long and happy life. She will be missed by all who knew her for her sense of humor and kindness.
