The funeral for Geneva Monroe Adams, 93, of Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Adams died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at The Methodist Oaks.
Pallbearers will be Townsend Sifly, James Council, Jim Traywick, James Gressette, Tom Bonnette, Bill Tulluck Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Zeigler, Alan Johnstone, Eva Johnstone, Mary Williams, Nancy Berry, Lois Tulluck and Mary Katherine Horger.
Mrs. Adams was born in Hunter, Ark., a daughter of the late Dr. U. S. Monroe and Edna Howard Monroe. She graduated from the Jefferson City, Mo., High School, and attended the University of Arkansas. She taught school in Truman, Ark. She and her husband moved to Orangeburg in 1937. She was a member of First Baptist Church, past president of the W.M.U., and a former Sunday school teacher in the beginners department. She was a member of the Orangeburg Country Club, the Orangeburg Garden Club, and PEO Chapter A. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Orangeburg Community Concerts, and a member of the Dixie Club. She was the widow of B. Phil Adams Jr.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, B. Phil (Peggy) Adams III of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Geri M. Adams of Orangeburg; a brother, Dr. Stanley Monroe of Sherman, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Geraldine M. McCurry of Heber Springs, Ark.; two grandchildren, B. Phil (Rachel) Adams IV of Winston Salem, N.C., Mrs. Robbie (Elizabeth A.) Green, Raleigh, N.C.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1240 Russell St., Orangeburg SC 29115.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home.
