James Andy Baker, 85, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, died Nov. 7, 2004, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 14, 1918, at Clines Island, son of the late James M. and Lottie Curd Baker, he was the assistant night foreman at Himmelburger-Harrison until ill health forced his retirement in 1977. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Sikeston Lodge 310 AF&AM and the Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114. He was also a member of the Clines Island General Baptist Church.
On April 14, 1949, he married Mildred Evans who survives.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Sherrie Morris; two grandsons, Tim Morris and James A. "Jim" Morris; and one great-grandson, Aden Morris.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, John Baker, George Baker, Verner Baker and Joseph Baker; and three sisters, Mollie Baker, Pearl Cook and Anna Chrisman.
Visitation was held until time for services at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Dr. Rick Ramsey, pastor of First Baptist Church in Sikeston, officiated.
Burial followed in the Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley.
