From his obituary Oran, MO: Pronounced dead on arrival at Chaffee General Hospital following an apparent heart attack while mowing the lawn at his home at age 65. Born in Oregon City, OR to the late Lacey and Betty McDowell Bernard. 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death. Married Mayme Estes of Oran 11/26/1931 who survives. Retired last Oct after 23 years at St Lukes Hospital in St Louis, Mo where he worked as a maintenance foreman. Survived by son Lloyd Gentry Bernard of Springfield, Mo; brothers Linus of Wilcox, AZ, Lawrence of Burfordville, Mo and Lail of Cape Giradeau, Mo; sisters Mrs Elsie Millstead of Pontiac, Mich, Mrs Ethel Thomas of Wilcox, Miss Laydus Bernard of Flint, Mich, Mrs Etber LeGrand and Mrs Zexia Sietman of Oran and Mrs Barbara Venable of Scott City, Mo; stepmother Idus Bernard of Sikeston, Mo; stepsister Mrs Edith Crafton of Houston, Tx; and 3 grandchildren.
