In memory of Mary Evelyn, little daughter of Eddie and Celia Sickal, who died of whooping cough July 11, 1914. Aged 2 months and 11 days, a short sweet life, pure as the lily that springs from the earth without a stain upon the snow white petals. God gave her to our keeping so short a time but long enough for our affections to be twined around her. It was so hard to give her up but we know she is safe within the Savior's tender care. Dear Lord help to say not my will but thine be done. It was his will that she should not be left here to battle against the temptations of this old world that is so full of sin and sorrow, so he called her to that beautiful home to be with the angels. Dear parents try and think of her thus and do not mourn as those that have no hope, but put your trust in (parts of sentence missing) children to come unto me for such is the kingdom of heaven.
Funeral services were conducted at Forest Grove church at 10 o'clock, July 12, 1914, by Rev. Cunningham, after which the little body was alid (sic) to rest beside its grandparents to await the resurrection morn when we all shall know and understand.
