Alida T. Alaniz, 83, of Kingsville died July 12, at her residence. She was born in El Dormido Ranch March 10, 1916.
She was a retired educator of 45 year. She was a teacher,counselor, supervisor and university professor. Mrs Alaniz received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&I and the University of Texas.
She was active in local civic social and religious organizations including: president of the Altar Society; president of the Catholic daughters of America; secretary of the Legion of Mary;president of the American Association of University Women 1964 to 1967; treasurer of the Soroptimist Club 1966 to 1968;chairperson of the American Cancer Society of Kleberg Couty;and president of the South Texas Chapter No. 189 for Exceptional Children.
Survivors include: her husband, Raul M. Alaniz of Kingsville; two daughters, Iza A. Gonzalez of Brownsville and Dorina A. Thomas of Dallas; two brothers, Bruno Treviņo of Vero Beach, Fla., Manuel Treviņo of Port Arthur; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
A rosay will be recited 7:30 p.m. July 14 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home Chapel B.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. July 15 at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Rev. Jim Foelker, O.M.I. officiating.
Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
