Marjorie Kay Absher, 60, of Norman, Oklahoma died February 28, 2006, in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, March 3, 2006, at the Goldsby Baptist Church in Goldsby, Oklahoma with Reverend Fred Greening officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are Bob Anthony, Jim Chowins, Joe Rupe, Jeff Cummins, Troy Bates and Casey Andrews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kyle Bates and Cayden Andrews. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mrs. Absher was born December 5, 1945, in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Otis 'Cotton' and Flora Mae Dorner Robertson.
She attended Wetumka Schools and was a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church of Wetumka, Oklahoma.
She married Charles Eugene Absher on December 21, 1963, in Calvin, Oklahoma. Kay moved to Norman from Wetumka, Oklahoma in 1964.
She was the executive director of Norman Housing Authority, having worked for the Housing Authority for twenty eight years. She was a member of the Sooner Rotary Club, NAHRO and the Goldsby Baptist Church.
Mrs. Absher was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Max Robertson.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene, of the home; two daughters, Shelly Renae Andrews, of Washington, Oklahoma and Carolyn Sue Absher, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, brother, Marvin Joe Robertson, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; sister, Marilyn Ruth Charpentier, of Fairfield, Montana, four grandsons, William Troy Bates, of Seminole, Oklahoma, Casey Stephen Andrews, of Washington, Oklahoma, Kyle Talcott Bates, of Noble, Oklahoma and Cayden Charles Andrews of Washington, Oklahoma, great-grandsons, Devin William Bates of Seminole, Oklahoma and Bradley Troy Bates of Seminole, Oklahoma , son-in-law, Chuck Andrews, of Washington, Oklahoma and mother-in-law, Tillie Absher, of Wetumka, Oklahoma.
