James U. Bauer, a highly respected retired farmer, died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at his home beyond Breinigsville of pneumonia after an illness of some days. He had been suffering with chronic Bright's disease and when he was stricken with pneumonia, his constitution was not strong enough to make the fight against the disease. He retired from farming some years ago and his sons continued the work. His age was 62 years, 4 months and 15 days. He leaves a widow and two sons, Robert and Harry, at home, and two great-grandchildren; also one brother, Victor Bauer, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Newhard, of Orefield. The funeral will take place on Saturday forenoon at 9.30 o'clock at the house. Services at the Mertztown Church. Rev. Berndt officiating. Jos. Shofer, of Topton, is the undertaker.
