Some family genealogy reflects a possible middle name of Walker. It is not believed Wains is her middle name but rather a misinterpretation when transcribing her marriage record to Hutchings Burton. The writing is such that it is difficult to ascertain if the same is Wains or Harris. The transcription was officially listed as Wains based on the header in the journal but looks more like Harris in the body of the document.

The History of Carroll County 1882 indicates she was Miss Malissa Harris when she married Hutchings Burton.

Until such time actual proof can be obtained the above information is provided for utilization in your research journey.
