Cleofas Aldape Cano, 98, a lifetime resident of Mercedes passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.
She was born August 15, 1912 to Eulalio and San Juanita Ramirez Aldape in Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruno Cano, 2 sons; Roberto & Ricardo Cano, 3 grandsons & 3 great grandsons, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
She is survived by her loving 7 daughters; Consuelo (Juan +) Urbina of Mercedes, Salome (Arquimedes +) Trevino of San Antonio, Beatrice (Antonio +) Nava of Robstown, Texas, Rebecca (Jose Luis) Crowder of Washington, Isabel (Federico +) Jimenez of Indiana, Virginia Garcia of McAllen, Julia Alvarado of Mercedes, 55 Grandchildren, 161 great-grandchildren & 120 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. We will depart Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
Interment will then follow at Campaquas cemetery in Mercedes, Texas.
Pallbearers are: Cris Jimenez, Frankie Alvarado, Johnny Urbina, Joe Cano, Federico Jimenez Jr., and Rene Gomez.
