John F. Bartlett Sr., 80, died, surrounded by his family on Thursday (November 20, 2008) at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. He resided at 36 Green Manor Drive in East Hartford, Connecticut at the time of his death.
He was born June 19, 1928 in Woonsocket, RI, a son of the late Edmund and Mary (Feeny) Bartlett. John was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and worked as a Driver Technician for the American Red Cross. John was a United States Army Veteran and a die hard Red Sox and Patriots fan. Anyone that knew him, appreciated his great sense of humor. John loved to drive around to different places, just for the ride.
He was predeceased by his wife Dora (Collin) Bartlett, in February of 2006 and his son Raymond F. Bartlett in July of 2007. He is survived by his son John F. Bartlett Jr. and his wife Ninon of Vernon, his daughter Kristine A. McLaughlin of East Hartford, his brother Thomas A. Bartlett and his sister Ann Marie Jacques, both of Massachusetts, five grandchildren Raymond, Michelle, Denise and John Bartlett III and Sara McLaughlin and three great grandchildren Tiffany, Eric and Tyler McLaughlin.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. from the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church.
Burial will follow with Full Military Honors accorded in Silver Lane Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.
