OBITUARY-
Dr. Fred G. Albert, age 75, formerly of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at his home, Punta Gorda, Fla., with his loving wife, Julie at his side. He fought a long and difficult battle against cancer.
Dr. Albert was born April 7, 1930, in Ironwood, Mich., the seventh son of 10 children. He moved to Austin, Minn., in 1956 where he enjoyed trout fishing and playing tennis almost every day.
In 2002 Dr. Albert left Austin to become a resident of Florida where he also enjoyed playing tennis and fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed the warmth of the Florida sun. He treasured friendships he had with all that shared in his life. Dr. Albert always considered his most important accomplishment in his life, and the greatest measure of his success and joy, not his profession, but his being able to raise a very loving and close family.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Albert, Punta Gorda, Fla.; children: Elana (Marv) Rosenow, Milwaukee, Wis.; Linda Albert, Rochester, Minn.; Jody Albert, St. Paul, Minn.; Dr. Fred (Annie) Albert Jr., Bozeman, Mont.; Biruta (Bob) Britton, Plymouth, Minn.; Maria (Brett) Albert-Stauning, St. Paul, Minn.; Lisa (Larry) Albert-Tholkes, St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; brother, Dr. Sam Albert, Ironwood, Mich.; sisters: Lamese Davies, Greer, S.C.; Lucille Hurrell, Wheaton, Ill.; Rosemarie Butman, Minnetonka, Minn.
He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Lulu Albert; brothers: Albert, Michael, Theodore, John and James.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at the Church of St. Augustine in Austin, Minn., with Father Tom Cook officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
