The Martin family, James and Mary Ella, lived east of the Brooks family and were very close neighbors. J.E. was a good horseman and broke horses for Pink Brooks.

James Edward Martin, Jr married Mary E Holden on 18 October 1903 at Comanche County, Oklahoma.

James Edward Martin, a pioneer citizen of Young County, died at his home in the country, west of Graham. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church at Graham.

Services were conducted at the home by Mr. Brown, principal of the Tonk Valley Church.

Mr. Martin was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was one of the first settlers in Young County and had lived a greater part of his life a few miles west of Graham.

Survived by his wife; two daughters - Miss Ima Lea Martin and Mrs. Bourland ; one son - Myrl Martin.
