Stella M. Baker, 74, 520 Eastern Ave., died Monday in Reid Memorial Hospital, Richmond, where she had been a patient one week. She was a native of Monroe County, W.Va., and retired in 1972 from Philco-Ford. where she had worked 24 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Union, W.Va. Her first husband. Clyde Marshall Shanklin, died in 1957. Survivors include her husband, Sam Baker; one son. James E. Shanklin of Connersville; one daughter. Marguerite Spann of Madison; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clenna Beckner of Connersville and Florence Bostic of Rainelle, W.Va.; one stepsister, Alice Evetts of Connersville; nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Stella M. Baker will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer E. McCormick, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Memories Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to I p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
