Mrs. Henry Ahrendsen
On June 16, 1910, occurred the death of Mrs. Henry Ahrendsen from an internal abscess, at her home south of Manning. She had been a sufferer for years and everything that could be done was done to relieve her, but she could get no relief. Several times she went to the hospital at Omaha but she could not be cured. At times noted doctors coming to Manning were summoned but could do nothing for her, and she left this earth last Thursday morning, June 16, to join the hosts above where there is to be no pain or sorrow.
Margareta was born in Germany, and at the time of her death was 41 years and 20 days old. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Jurgen Wunderlich. Later she came to America and was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Ahrendsen. They had three children: Ella Lampe, Leona Willesen, and Hugo.
Those knowing her speak highly of her, saying she was a devoted wife, a good mother, an accommodating neighbor and a kind friend.
The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon at the German Lutheran Church, Rev. Johann Ansorge giving a fine funeral address and speaking comforting words to the bereaved. It was one of the largest funerals held in Manning for some time, showing the high esteem held for the deceased by all living in this community.
The remains were sorrowfully taken to the Manning Cemetery where the last funeral rites were administered and where her body was laid to rest until the resurrection day. The bereaved husband, children and other relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends who sympathize deeply with them in their hour of trial.
