Birth: Jun. 19, 1940
Leflore County
Mississippi, USA
Death: Aug. 18, 2001
St. Clair County
Illinois, USA

Mrs. Clara Bell Adams was born June 19, 1940 to the union of John and Laura Gladney in LeFlore County, Mississippi. She was the third of three children. Both parents and two sisters preceded her in death.
The family moved from Mississippi and settled in the Fire Works Station area of Centreville, Illinois in 1945. Clara received her formal education in the East St.Louis, Illinois Public School System.
She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and united with the Shiloh MB Church under the pastorage of Rev. J.W.Wilson, where she was an active member until her health failed. She was an active member of the Fellowship Mission and was eager to be of help in the community.
In 1953, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Shane Adams. To this union one son was born, Nathaniel Gladney, and one daughter, Rochelle Adams.
Clara was employed for more than 20 years at Obear-Nester Glass Company of East St. Louis, Illinois.
After a lengthy illness, on Saturday, August 18, 2001, Clara gladly answered the Master's call. Now she is in His care. Clara selfishly took a sacrificial task of helping rear her sister's children after her death. She leaves a legacy of love, charity, devotion and patience.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, one daughter, Rochelle Adams; one son, Nathaniel (Janice) Gladney; one daughater-in-law, Janice Gladney; three grandchildren, Joyce Manning, Michael Gladney and Nakia Gladney; and four great-grandchildren; The sorrow of her death is also shared by eight nieces and nephews from her beloved sisters, Henry Harper,Jr., Patricia Gladney, George Gladney,Jr., Gregory Harper, Lynette Gladney, John Harper, Karen Wright and Gregory Gladney; three aunts, Effie Roberts, Henrietta Washington and Isabella Gladney; three godsisters, Mary Moore, Patricia McGhee and Beatrice Haskell; a dear friend, Arvel Reynolds; two brothers-in-law, George Parnell and Henry Harper; a host of cousins; other relatives and dear friends.
