Services are being held Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. in House of Prayer For All Nations, 300 South 40th Street, Alorton, Illinois with interment to follow in Sunset Gardens Of Memory, Millstadt, Illinois. Mrs. Alston was a devoted teacher for over 33 years. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1941 with a BA in Liberal Arts and Science and later received her MA.She is preceded in death by her husband Charles (Ducky) Alston. Mrs. Alston leaves to cherish her life: 3 sons, Richard Phinnessee and his wife Tami of St. Louis, MO, Darryl Phinnessee and his special friend Deanna Lewis of Burbank, CA, and Harold Alston of Freemont, NY. Six daughters, Virginia Carrington of Bakersfield, CA, Sherrie Alston of East St. Louis, Ill., Cheryl, Cynthia and Charlene Alston of Evansville, IN, Laverne Alston Germany of Indianapolis, IN, and Kiana Alston of East St. Louis, Ill. One sister-in-law, Jean Alston Dixon of Indianapolis, IN; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 13 nieces, 11 nephews; 43 great-nieces; 31 great-nephews; 58 great-great nieces; 65 great-great nephews; 2 great-great-great nieces; special niece Frances Harris, her caregiver; a special companion Nadine Turner of Bakersfield, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Abraham and staff for the wonderful and loving care given to her in times of health and illness, also all the doctors and nurses at KMC Hospital.
