James Madison Barrington was a son of Albert Alexander Barrington and Nancy Ella Allen, a grandson of Marion Madison Barrington and Anne Margaret Heidt.

Descendant of Willis Barrington and Sarah Cebelle Matthews.

James married two times, his first marriage was to Lonie Matilda Butler, daughter of William Lloyd Butler and Dora Ann Wyatt. Lonie died Jul 15, 1915 and was buried in the Butlet Family Cemetery in Rose Hill, Alabama. After her death, James married Cora L Mathews, daughter of Hillary H and Willie Mathews. James and Cora married Mar 26, 1919 in Rose Hill.

Cora's sister, Clemmie Mathews, was the wife of Rufus Lee Harville. Rufus was a brother of Amanda Harville who married Marion Robert Dean, son of Samuel Dean and Annie Iola Barrington. Annie Barrington-Dean was a sister of Albert Alexander Barrington (father of James Madison Barrington)

James' 2nd wife Cora is buried next to him at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
