Lester Carl Alcumbrack, aged 91, passed away with his daughters at his side Sunday, December 16, 2012. Les was a graduate of Godwin High School, a WWII veteran and worked several years in the lumber business. Les is now dancing in heaven with his late wife, Pat, and surrounded by his parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, who preceded him in death. Les leaves behind his two daughters and their families, Janet (Tim) Camling and Mary Lou (Rich) Kosty; along with his five grandsons, Sgt. Bradley (Jenn) Camling, TJ and Steven Camling, Lance and Aaron Kosty. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Virgina Alcumbrack, Barb Pedden; and brother-in-law, Paul Saurman; along with several nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Funeral services for Lester will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 4010 Kalamazoo SE with Pastor Doug Van Doren officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo SE Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Thursday, 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and Spectrum Health Hospice.
