WAR — Martha Jane (Boyd) Crockett, age 92, of War, W.Va., passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 in the Bland County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bastian, Va., after a lengthy illness.

Martha was born on June 6, 1919 in Shortt Gap, Va., a daughter of the late William and Nancy Jane Boyd. She had been a resident of McDowell County most of her life. She was a longtime member of the War Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Halsey D. Crockett; three sons, Cecil, Robert (Bobby), and Henry Crockett; one grandson, Alan W. Payne; five brothers; and three sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include one son, John Crockett and wife Michelle of Port Deposit, Md.; four daughters, Ella Jane Vance of Paynesville, W.Va., Betty Lambert and husband Doug of Bland, Va., Rethea Smith of Nathalie, Va., and Marie Crockett of Pearisburg, Va. Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 1 o'clock at the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in War, W.Va. with the Reverend Roger Monk officiating. Interment will follow at the Berwind Lake Cemetery, Berwind, W.Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening, November 28, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m.
