Deborah Dodge Dutton was one of the founding members of St. Luke's Church in 1883.
Deborah was married to Lt. George Dutton who purchased the old Antonio Ramirez Inn in 1876 and converted it into a two story hotel that became the center of the business and social life of Old Jolon.
Deborah is remembered by her family as the town's biggest booster of the Jolon Baseball Team sponsored by Faxon Dean Atherton. Her son Edwin was a player on the team. A photograph of the team take in 1892 hangs in the St. Luke's Guild Hall.
Deborah is buried on a plot of the hill north-west of the Dutton Hotel alongside her daughter Ethel Sidney who died at the age of 4 years. Deborah chose to be interned there rather than in St. Luke's Cemetery in order that young Ethel would not rest alone in wait for the Resurrection. ~ From St. Lukes Church, Jolon, CA.
