Enlisted at Fort Dallas in Miami Florida on Oct 17, 1860 at the age of 29 for 5 year term in the 9th Infantry Company B.
He had blue eyes, brown hair, dark skin, and was 5 ft 6 in tall.
He was discharged July 25, 1864 and re-enlisted at the Presidio in San Francisco in the 12th Infantry Company B and was transferred to Camp Independence in Inyo County to quell indian uprisings. He is listed as a soldier at Camp Independence in the 1870 US Federal Census for Inyo County, Independence Township.
He died on Oct. 12, 1871 of Bright's disease of the kidneys and was originally buried in the Camp Independence Cemetery until May 1st 1892 when all soldier graves were moved by military order to the Presidio Cemetery in San Francisco following the closure of Camp Independence in 1877.
