Wilbur L. "Bill" Bailey June 20, 1918 - Sept. 5, 2012

"Resident of Benicia Wilbur L. "Bill" Bailey, 94, passed away Wednesday in a local care home following a long illness. He was born in Petaluma and lived in Concord from 1934-1971 before finally settling in Benicia. Bill was a U.S Army veteran of World War II from 1943-1945. He worked as a Supervisor for over 43 years for Coca Cola before retiring in 1980. He was a graduate of Mt. Diablo High School, Class of 1936. He built three homes and was instrumental in building Calvary Community Church. The church is now called The Gateway. He was an accomplished woodcarver, loved traveling and camping. Bill is survived by Joan, his wife of 67 years, sons Richard Leland & Christopher Lynn Bailey, daughter Barbara Hoppe; brother Leonard Bailey; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday at The Gateway, 1315 Military West with former Pastor Tom Crooks officiating. Inurnment will be private in Pacheco Pioneer Cemetery, Pacheco. Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.
