Barbara Abel passed away on a Wednesday at a Sonora hospital at the age of 81. She had been a resident of the Sonora and Columbia area for 43 years.

Born in San Francisco, she worked as a meat wrapper for Hob Nob Market in San Carlos. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sonora.

Survivors included her daughter living in Antioch, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
