Samuel was the son of Minnie Alice Alexander. He was born in Pine Log, Tuolumne County, California.
Samuel Alexander passed away at the Dameron Hospital in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California, on Friday, May 6, 1927, at the age of 10.
Born on February 10, 1917, at Pine Log, a remote and isolated area near Columbia, he was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hatten (Tony) Alexander. He had been an invalid for several years, suffering from a severe sleeping sickness caused from a serious bout with the measles. Everything medically possible was done for the child, but without success.
The funeral took place on a Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the O'Beirne Funeral Parlors in Sonora, and was very largely attended. Interment was in the Columbia City Cemetery beside the grave of his mother who passed away in Pine Log on January 29, 1922, and his sister, Viola Alexander Kahl, who passed away January 13, 1925.
The only surviving sister, Ruth Alexander Kress of Yankee Hill, and all six brothers attended the funeral, and condolences were extended from their many friends.
In 1920, Samuel had two sisters and six brothers living with him and his parents in Pine Log, Tuolumne County. Within the next two years, his parents divorced and five of his siblings married or moved away.
On a cold, snowy morning in 1922, Samuel discovered his mother unresponsive, a victim of poisoning, either accidentally or by her own accord. Three years later, he lost his sister, Viola, to complications of goiter.
Samuel, Viola and their mother are at rest beside each other here.
