Ruth Lavaun Lashmet Asbury was born March 9, 1901 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri, to Rena B. Hight and John E. Lashmet.
She had lived in Sonora for 54 years at the time of her death on February 19, 1994, in Sonora. She had a 20 year career working as a clerk for the Sonora Inn and the Stagedriver's Retreat in Columbia.
Ruth was a member of the Gold Nugget Rebekah Lodge in Columbia, where she served as a Past Noble Grand, and was also a member of the Companions of the Forest.
At the time of her death, Ruth was survived by two daughters, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
