Arcola April 17 - The funeral of John Elliott, who was found dead in a room over the Franklin store on Wednesday morning of last week, was held on Sunday afternoon. The obsequies were delayed in hope that some of the relatives of the dead man might be located but despite all the efforts directed toward this end, none of the man's kindred, if any are living, could be heard from.
Elliott left an estate amounting to several thousand dollars, In the absence of any relatives this money will go to the county. The man has lived in the vicinity of Arcola for over thirty five years but in all that time he has never given out any information concerning his family or his life before coming to Arcola. He was a quiet, reserved man though not an unsociable one. He had a knack of saving his money and making judicious investments but he lived frugally and despite the fact that he was well up in years and financially able to take life easy, he worked hard, laboring as a common farm hand.
