Memorial. Over looking the Pacific Ocean at Cliff Drive in Heisler Park Laguna Beach, California, the monument is located at one of the most beautiful places in Southern California. The memorial was erected by American Legion Post 222 and officially dedicated on May 30, 1959. The monument plaque reads "This modest monument is dedicated to the memory of those who gave their lives that our Nation might remain free. Our debt to them can never be fully paid. May their supreme sacrifice guide us, now and forevermore". In addition a fifty year time capsule was placed at the site in 1977, to be opened at Memorial Day ceremonies on May 30, 2027. On Veteran's Day November 10, 2001, another bronze plaque was added to the monument dedicated to all the men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during time of war and National emergency. There is also a memorial sculpture by artist Jorg Dubin titled "Semper Memento", which was dedicated on September 11, 2011, to the memory of the victims of the Septemper 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
