Bertie Lee Edwards, 86, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday, December 8th, 2009, at her place of residence in Kansas City.
She was born on January 9, 1923 in Callaway County, the daughter of the late Thomas Cason Sr. and Cornelia (Threlkeid) Cason. She was united in marriage to Harold Palmer Edwards on September 8, 1964, in Fulton.
Bertie was a lifelong member of the Calvary Babtist Church, a member of the Ladies Choir and the Unknown Daughters. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Ladies Masonic Lodge. Bertie was previously employed by William Woods College for over 50 years. She attended Lincoln University High School in Jefferson City.
Survivors include her loving husband, Harold Palmer Edwards, one son, Harold B. Edwards and his wife Joanne M.D., of Kansas City, three grandchildren, Angelina and Andreanna Edwards of Kansas City and Rachelle Richmond of Columbia, one sister, Juanita Lee of Fulton, one brother-in-law, Lavore Richmond, one sister-in-law, Bonnie Cason, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, one son, Charles "Eddie" Bell, three sisters, Marie Wilson, Barbara Richmond and Pauline Porter, six brothers, Stanley Cason, Frederick Cason, Richard Cason, Thomas Cason, Cecil Cason and Carl Cason.
Words cannot describe the number of lives that Bertie touched during her time here. Her ability to care and love for people was without reservation. She never complained or asked for anything in return for the compassion she showed to others. She loved her family tremendously and lived a full life of joy and happiness.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Calvary Babtist Church in Fulton with the Reverend Howard Vaughn officiating. Entombment will follow in the Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Family will recieve friends on Monday from 10am until the time of service. The Family is being cared for by the Debo Funeral Home of Fulton.
