Vern Dewart Teague, age 85, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 28, 2001, at the First Presbyterian Church of Seymour, Texas, officiated by Pastor Matt Miles and Dr. Ed Hart. Burial was at the Teague Farm seven miles south of Seymour, Texas on Hwy. 283 under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mr. Teague was born April 17, 1916, in Durant, Oklahoma. He graduated from Megargel High School.
He served as a First Class Seaman in the Navy during World War II.
He and Mary Louise Derr were married May 5, 1939. She preceded him in death on October 12, 1999. He was also preceded in death by six brothers. He was a farmer and rancher.
Mr. Teague was a member, elder and past treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #604 and a member of the Scottish Rite. He received the award for outstanding Conservation/Farmer in 1983 and was named Rancher-Cattleman of Baylor County in 1997.
He is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Stewart and husband, Pat of Seymour, Texas; three grandsons, Robb A. Stewart and wife, Melinda; Brad L. Stewart and wife, Lynann; all of Seymour, Texas and Matt L. Stewart and wife, Claudia of Coppell, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Jade Stewart, Calleigh Renee Stewart, Ethan Robert Stewart, Garrett Lane Stewart and McKenna Marie Stewart.
